About

How it all started

The Sanctuary was founded in 1999 by Caroline Lewis.

It was run privately and self funded until 2019, when Caroline decided to bring it into the public domain.

Our story

Established in 1999, Caroline embarked on a mission to provide a lifelong home to unwanted sheep.

Her first rescue was a ewe lamb who arrived in the back of a parcel delivery van! That was “Lucky” who’d been found cold and hypothermic, lying on the side of the road.

Since then, many sheep from orphan lambs to unwanted elderly breeding ewes and rams have been provided with a lifelong home where they can live out their full natural lives in a peaceful, stress free environment.

Our approach

The Sanctuary covers approximately 22 acres and the land is organically managed, providing a home for both the sheep and an abundance of wildlife.

I have nothing to fear and here my story ends. My troubles are all over and I am at home.
